Free and Premium

What can I use for free?

The radar map, with its loop of recent radar and the radar forecast, and the minute-by-minute precipitation forecast for the next hour, are free for everyone.

What does Premium add?

• Current conditions: temperature, feels like, wind, humidity, UV and more
• Hourly and daily forecasts
• Severe weather warnings
• Hurricane tracks on the map
• Lock Screen widgets
• A choice of weather source

Premium is a monthly or yearly subscription, each with a one-week free trial. Prices are shown in the app in your local currency.

How do I restore my subscription on a new device?

Sign in with the same Apple Account, open the app, tap Explore Premium (or Subscribe), then Restore Purchases on the subscription screen. A subscription usually appears on its own within a few moments of opening the app.

How do I cancel or change my plan?

In the app, tap the place name at the top of the forecast, then Settings, then Manage Subscription. You can also go to the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Subscriptions are handled by Apple, so we can't cancel or refund them for you; to ask Apple for a refund, use reportaproblem.apple.com.

Radar and the Next Hour

Where is radar available?

The radar covers the United States (including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico) and Europe. Outside those areas the map shows no radar, and the next hour reads No Radar Here. Premium subscribers there still get a minute-by-minute forecast from their weather source when available.

How do I see earlier radar or play the loop?

Tap the clock button on the map. Press play to run the loop, or drag the ruler to step through the radar one frame at a time, past and forecast. Double-tap the ruler, or close the timeline, to go back to the latest radar.

What does "Chance of Light Rain" mean?

Rain could fall at your location at some point in the next hour, worked out from the radar and its forecast. When rain is likely, the summary says when it will start, stop or get heavier instead, like Light Rain, heavier in 19 min. When it's possible but unlikely, it reads like Light Rain Possible in 7 min.

Places

How do I add a place?

Tap the place name at the top of the forecast, then the + button. Search for a town, address or landmark, or choose Save Current Location to keep where you are now. You can also touch and hold anywhere on the map to drop a pin there; it's saved with your places.

How do I remove, reorder or rename places?

In the list of places, swipe left on a place to delete it, or touch and hold a place and drag it to move it. To rename a place, tap the ⓘ beside it.

Forecasts

Can I change units?

Yes. In Settings you can set the temperature unit, wind speed (mph or km/h) and precipitation (inches or millimetres). For wind and precipitation, Automatic follows your region.

Can I change where the forecast comes from?

Premium subscribers can choose Foreca, Apple Weather or Open-Meteo under Settings › Weather Source. Each uses its own forecast models, so their numbers can differ a little.

Why is the temperature different from another app?

Weather apps use different sources and models, and forecast for slightly different spots. Elevation matters too: a valley and the hill above it can read several degrees apart.

Can I rearrange the details on the Current tab?

Yes. Touch and hold any tile, then drag it to a new spot without lifting your finger. While the tiles are wiggling, tap the eye on a tile to hide or show it.

How do I see precipitation amounts?

Precipitation is drawn as water along the bottom of the Hourly and Daily graphs. On either graph, tap the water to show or hide the amounts.

Widgets

How do I add a widget?

Touch and hold your Lock Screen, tap Customize, choose the Lock Screen, then tap the widget area and pick CheckWeather. There are two widgets: Temperature Only and Conditions (the conditions symbol with the temperature), each in a circle or as a line of text above the clock. Widgets need Premium.

How do I choose the place a widget shows?

While customizing your Lock Screen, tap the widget to choose one of your saved places and a font, and for Conditions, filled or outline icons. Widgets show saved places, so add a place in the app first.
